OUTREACH: K-12

We are pleased to announce that the Center for European Studies in partnership with Global Studies will be offering a K-12 Teacher Workshop this summer. The workshop will be held 23-27 June 2008 at Lowell Hall on the UW-Madison Campus.

The theme for this summer's workshop will be New and Emerging Migrations – encompassing such topics as new immigrant communities, forced migration, human trafficking, and social adaptation & integration.

Scholar Access Grants

The Scholar Access Grant program promotes research and course development in European Studies by giving teachers and scholars outside the Madison area access to the faculty and library resources of UW-Madison.

Who is eligible: teachers of grades K-12 as well as faculty teaching at any two-year, four-year, or technical college/university in Wisconsin (except Dane County), Illinois, Iowa or Minnesota.

What the grants support: research at the UW-Madison for up to 7 days between mid-May and mid-August.

Amount: While the size of the grant can vary, it generally carries a maximum value of up to $1000 to be applied to transportation to Madison, lodging, per diem and miscellaneous research expenses (e.g., photocopying).

Grant competition details: 2006 Application Deadline: 30 April.
